3 Nature of the site

Sextant is a site that is strictly educational. Its purpose is to provide educational information on trading, the financial markets, risk management and crypto-assets.

This site is in no way:

→ Financial investment advice (CIF) within the meaning of Article L.541-1 of the French Monetary and Financial Code
→ A personalized recommendation to buy or sell financial instruments
→ A trading signal or an encouragement to invest
→ A guarantee of results or performance

The information published on this site is provided for information and educational purposes only. You alone are responsible for your investment decisions. Never trade with money you cannot afford to lose.

4 Intellectual property

All the content on this site (text, illustrations, SVG diagrams, source code, layout, logo) is protected by intellectual property law.

Any reproduction, display, modification, publication or adaptation of all or part of the site's elements is prohibited without prior written permission, except for strictly personal and non-commercial use.

5 Personal data protection (GDPR)

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR — EU Regulation 2016/679) and the French Data Protection Act of 6 January 1978 as amended:

Data collected

The site's contact forms (coaching, bot) collect the following data: first name, last name, email address, age, trading level, and any further information you choose to provide. This data is collected only in order to get back to you to schedule a call or to send you a trading tool.

Legal basis

Processing is based on your consent (Article 6.1.a of the GDPR), given by voluntarily submitting the form.

Retention period

Your data is kept for a maximum of 12 months from your last interaction, unless a legal obligation requires longer retention.

Cookies and audience measurement

This site uses no tracking cookies, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics tools (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel). No cookie is set, and nothing the site keeps on your device is sent to anyone. Only two things are stored there, because you asked for them: your light or dark theme choice, and your progress through the lessons. They stay with you. That is why you see no consent banner — there is nothing to consent to.

An audience measurement does run, and here is exactly what it does. It is hosted on our own server, no data goes anywhere else. It records: the page viewed, the domain you arrive from (never the full address, which would contain your search), the browser language, a screen-width band, reading depth in 25 % steps, the time spent on the page, the opening of a lesson video, and the title of a lesson you tick as complete. That last measure exists to show which lessons are actually followed through to the end — it counts completions, it does not follow anyone.

Your IP address is never stored. It is used to compute a fingerprint — a digest of your address, your browser and a salt that changes every day — and is then discarded. That fingerprint counts you once within a day, and stops recognising you the next. Reconstructing a journey from one day to the next is therefore impossible, including for us. Measurements are deleted after thirteen months.

If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, nothing is measured at all.

Your progress logbook

The site keeps your progress — lessons ticked, assessment test result, light or dark theme choice. Nothing is saved until you act: it is ticking “lesson complete”, taking the test or switching theme that writes something — never simply reading a page. This information stays on your device — there is no account and no database to put them in.

One thing does leave, and it should be said precisely: when you tick “lesson complete”, the audience measurement records the title of that lesson, with nothing that identifies you. It therefore counts how many times a lesson is completed, never by whom, and cannot link two completions to the same person from one day to the next. Your logbook itself — the list of what you have done, your test result — is never transmitted.

From the My coursepage, you can download this logbook as a file, keep it wherever you like, load it on another device, or erase everything. Both the download and the loading happen entirely inside your browser: the file passes through no server, which you can confirm in your browser’s network tab.

This is the principle this course teaches about cryptocurrencies: what you hold yourself depends on no one else. We have no user accounts, no visitor database, and no password of yours to lose.

6 Affiliate links and compensation

Sextant receives no compensation from brokers, trading platforms or tool providers. No link on this site is an affiliate link. Broker recommendations are based solely on technical criteria (regulation, spreads, execution) and not on commercial partnerships.

7 Limitation of liability

The site publisher cannot be held liable for errors, omissions or results that may follow from misuse of the information published. You use the site's information and tools entirely at your own risk.

The calculation tools (position calculator) are provided for guidance only. Always check the results with your broker before placing an order.

8 Governing law

This legal notice is governed by French law. Any dispute will be submitted to the courts with jurisdiction where the publisher is domiciled.
